About

A thrilling night time ride in the arctic forest. The guests are picked up from Kakslauttanen, taken to the activity location next to the forest and provided with thermal outfits and instructions. The snowmobile is for two people: the other one is driving and other sits in the back, you can swap drivers half way. There is also an option to have your own snowmobile and if you don’t wish to drive yourself, you can also ride in the back of a sleigh (for extra cost). The lights of the snowmobiles will illuminate the snow as you head into the wilderness with a bit of adrenaline. While taking a break we enjoy hot berry juice and if we are lucky, the Aurora Borealis, Northern Lights, appear in the sky. There will be a break for photo shoots and changing the driver on the way.

Please Note:

  • Drivers need to be 18 years of age with a driving license.
  • Physical driver's license needs to be carried during the ride.
  • All kids under 12 years old will sit in a sleigh pulled by a guide
  • Small children should be accompanied by adult.
  • You are not allowed to drive under the influence of alcohol, according to Finnish law. There’s a self-risk liability of 1500 € for renting the snowmobiles.
  • We cannot allow pregnant guests to join this activity.

Includes

  • Transfer from and to Kakslauttanen
  • Thermal clothing and driving gear
  • Shared snowmobile (individual snowmobiles available for an additional fee).
  • Instructions will be given before the start of the activity.

Please note

  • The winter temperatures can vary anywhere between 0°C and -40°C (on average it's -14°C)
  • In the winter the most important things is to dress up in layers:
  • First of all you need good thermal long underwear, then another layer of something warm like wool or fleece
  • On the top you will need good garment, which should preferably be water and wind proof
  • The most important thing to remember is that you should be totally covered from head to toes
  • You can also rent winter outwear from the hotel
  • Don’t forget to bring your smile :)

Adventure Tips

Bring thermal layers

Although provided with thermal clothing, layering additional warm base layers ensures comfort during the cold Arctic night ride.

Swap drivers for the best experience

Sharing driving duties keeps you energized and offers different perspectives of the terrain and aurora views.

Follow safety instructions carefully

Strict adherence to guidelines and the minimum age/driver’s license requirements ensures a safe and enjoyable excursion.

Charge your camera batteries

Low temperatures drain batteries faster; keep spares on hand to capture the Northern Lights.
