You step out of the van into an arched corridor of ceiba and mahogany; the air is humid and smells faintly of earth and limestone. Engines sputter to life for a short ATV loop, leaves slap at your goggles and the jungle seems to dare you to go faster. Later, the zipline sends you level with the treetops, wind pushing you forward like a promise, and a cool cenote waits below — a clear blue pocket cut into Yucatán’s karst.
moderate.
6 hours.
Suitable for people with light to moderate fitness — ability to mount a horse, climb in/out of ATVs, and handle short standing periods.
The tour runs about six hours and typically includes hotel pick-up, an ATV circuit, zipline, horseback ride, a cenote swim and a provided lunch.
Drivers must be at least 16 to operate an ATV; the maximum weight noted by the operator is around 300 lb. Pregnant travelers and those with serious spinal/heart conditions are advised not to participate.
The operator supplies helmets for ATVs and ziplines and life vests for the cenote swim; guides give a safety briefing before each activity.
The operator indicates they do not accept credit cards on site, so bring cash for extras and tips.
Cenotes are openings in Yucatán’s karst that provided water and held spiritual importance for the ancient Maya; many small jungle trails follow old rural routes.
Avoid sunscreen or lotions before entering cenotes, follow marked paths, and respect guide instructions to protect fragile limestone and aquatic ecosystems.
