ATV Dune Rides on Dubois Beach: 2-, 4-, and All-Day Rentals

On the wide, wind-scoured shore near Dubois, Wyoming, ATV Rentals puts you in the driver’s seat of a rare open-play landscape: a 5½‑mile stretch of beach that gives way to roughly 3,500 acres of sand dunes. Located one mile from the Pier Ave rental office, the company's units are staged right on the sand so you can mount up and ride straight out into open space. This is a self-guided rental—no tour, no convoy—which makes it a strong option for riders who want route freedom and a private pace across rolling dunes and shoreline flats.

The terrain here is defined by wind-sculpted dunes and broad beach flats where sand textures change with every tide and gust, creating natural features for wheel-to-sand transitions, banked turns, and easy exploratory loops. Riders should note that the beach is treated as a state highway, so state traffic rules apply; suspended-license holders cannot drive. The operator enforces sensible safety rules: drivers and passengers 18+ must carry valid ID or driver’s license, riders under 18 need written parental consent if a guardian is absent, and closed-toe shoes are required.

Booking options include 2-hour, 4-hour, and all-day rentals, making this a flexible outing from a short adrenaline fix to a full-day route-finding trip. With no guide, the experience rewards riders who come prepared—bring a map or GPS, a full tank of focus, and an eye for tide windows if your route hugs the waterline. The rental staging area is about a mile from Pier Ave, so plan for a short transfer of gear and briefing before you head out.

Local flora here is sparse but hardy: dune grasses and salt-tolerant shrubs anchor the sand, and birdlife exploits the shoreline at dawn and dusk. Expect to see shorebirds and occasional waterfowl during migration seasons. Because the dunes are expansive and exposed, wind and sun are constant partners—pack layers and sun protection even for brief rides.

ATV Rentals is a standout for its access: a simple, no-frills way to access thousands of acres of rideable sand without the logistics of transporting your own machine. For families with teenagers (minimum age 9), adventurous couples, and seasoned riders craving open terrain, it’s a practical, high-reward way to experience an unusual beach-dune system in the shadow of Wyoming’s greater outdoor playground. Reserve online—the inventory moves fast during peak season. Bring the credit card used for booking and any discount cards (military, first responder). Drivers and passengers 18+ must carry ID; drivers under 18 need written parental consent. People with suspended or revoked licenses cannot drive on the beach. Rentals often sell out on weekends and holidays, so reserve early to secure your chosen start time and vehicle; plan ahead during peak times.
