You kick the ATV into a low rumble and the jungle answers—humidity pressing, leaves brushing the handlebars, the trail folding ahead. After a short run through scrub and shaded tracks you trade engine noise for the hollow drip of limestone: a cenote opens like a private underground lake, the water glinting turquoise under a shaft of sun. Later, at Akumal Bay, the reef currents pull you along and a young sea turtle glides between your fins.
