The minibus peels away from Marrakech and the city’s tiled roofs blur into the brown ribs of the High Atlas. Within an hour, the road drops into green clefts — orchards, terraces and a river that dares you to follow it upstream. The guide parks; you step out to the smell of wood smoke, the distant harmonics of Amazigh song and a horizon punctuated by Mount Toubkal’s snow-streaked shoulders.
