You leave Marrakech before dawn and the city falls away as the road climbs toward the High Atlas. By midmorning the air sharpens; terraces and walnut trees slope past the window and the villages of Ait Mizan and Ait Souka appear, low and stone-straight against the mountains. The guide parks in Imlil, a hamlet at roughly 1,700–1,800 m, and you step onto a trail that leads through irrigated barley fields, orchards, and old mule tracks.
