Join us on a revealing journey through Atlanta’s civil rights history as we connect the dots from the Antebellum South to the present-day. We’ll share key events leading up to the Civil War, Reconstruction and the subsequent events and how they gave rise to Atlanta’s history-making African-American leaders.
You will hear stories of how these men and women overcame, organized, influenced the white power structure and ultimately laid the foundation for the birth of the modern-day Civil Rights Movement. Guest will learn about decisions made by federal and local governments that impacted economic, housing and education outcomes for Atlanta’s citizens.
We’ll reflect on the progress we’ve made so far as an American people and as a nation, as we continue to strive for comprehensive social justice for all our citizens.
Participants will be invited to ask questions and dive into the conversation. You’ll experience Atlanta and “The South” from a fresh perspective, while exploring the history, current culture and the destinations that make this great southern city a welcoming place to live, work and play!
