Athens Christmas Lights Trolley Tour: One-Night Polar Express Ride (Dec 18, 2025)

On a single December evening in Athens, Georgia, the CHRISTMAS SPECIAL 12/18/25- Classic City Christmas Lights Jolly Trolley Tour turns ordinary streets into a moving holiday theater. Meet at 3155 Atlanta Hwy, Athens, GA 30606 and board a Polar Express–themed trolley for a 75-minute ride through neighborhoods and riverfront corridors glazed in festive light. Families, couples, and solo travelers will find the route paced for easy viewing, punctuated by a special guest appearance from Santa Claus with a photo opportunity included. The trolley itself is part theater, part observation car: warm interior seating, holiday music, and big windows that frame strings of bulbs, illuminated home displays, and public light installations. This one-day-only event—organized as a limited seasonal offering—packs the best of Athens’ holiday displays into a concise, postcard-ready circuit. Free parking is available onsite at Big Dogs on the River, 265 Epps Bridge Lane, Athens, GA 30606; check-in at least 15 minutes before departure. The operator markets the ride as family-friendly and accessible to anyone comfortable sitting for about an hour and a quarter. What makes this ride special for Athens is its combination of small-city charm and theatrical presentation. The Classic City’s neighborhoods light up in varied styles: animated yard displays, classic incandescent strands, and inventive window scenes in commercial corridors. The trolley route hugs parts of the urban riverfront and residential streets where reflections on water and layered lights create unexpectedly cinematic views. For visitors who park at Big Dogs on the River there is an extra local pause point near Epps Bridge Lane where riverside glow meets neighborhood cheer. Practical notes: dress warmly for the ride and for moments when you might step off for photos; bring a camera or phone with a low-light mode; and BYOB if you prefer a festive beverage. The tour runs once, so arrive early to secure good seats toward the front for unobstructed views. It’s a short, concentrated way to experience Athens’ seasonal character without driving from stop to stop. This event is ideal for families with children wanting a Santa photo, travelers who prefer guided local experiences, and anyone seeking a single-night holiday highlight while visiting Athens. With a theatrical trolley, a curated route of standout displays, and a fixed 75‑minute format, the CHRISTMAS SPECIAL 12/18/25 tour is a compact, celebratory dose of Classic City holiday spirit. Check in at least 15 minutes prior to departure at the meeting point to guarantee boarding. Seats are assigned on arrival. Bring warm layers, comfortable shoes for brief stops, and a small flashlight. Remember the photo with Santa is included; have a mask ready if you want themed shots. Tickets are limited for this single-night event. Plan and arrive early to avoid disappointment.
