This intermediate sailing course is the next step up from the Basic Sailing (ASA 101) course. Do you want to charter a yacht in the Caribbean (or the Chesapeake)? Buy your own sailboat? Or do you just want to enjoy sailing on a larger, more comfortable yacht? This is the course for you.
• Advanced sailing skills aboard a larger sailing yacht (25 to 35 feet) with an inboard diesel engine. • Skills include sail trim, docking, anchoring, sail reefing and coastal navigation. • Course covers safety, seamanship, boat systems and weather. • The minimum age for our ASA 103 certification is 16 • Prerequisite, ASA 101 Basic Sailing
Notes: Maximum 4 students registered for this class. At least two people must be enrolled in this class in order for it to happen. BaySail reserves the right to cancel this class and refund or reschedule if less than the minimum number of students are enrolled.
Complete the ASA 101 Basic Sailing course or equivalent experience before enrolling, as this is an intermediate-level course.
Protect the yacht’s surface and maintain good footing by wearing shoes designed for sailing or similar grip soles.
Coastal conditions can shift rapidly on the Chesapeake; bring layered clothing and rain gear to stay comfortable.
While the days are scheduled 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., bring water and light snacks to maintain energy throughout the course.
