Study Materials:
Before taking ASA 101, we recommend that you take our Online Sailing Course entitled “Your First Sail”. In this fun and interactive course you will learn sailboat basics, including sailing terminology, commands used at the helm, and how the sails move the boat forward.
Give yourself time before the course starts to get oriented with the boats and instructors.
Deck surfaces can be slippery; sturdy, closed-toe shoes improve safety and comfort.
Even in light winds, open water reflects sunlight—apply sunscreen and bring a hat.
Bring water bottles to stay hydrated during long, active days on the water.
