His book, Homeless in a Land of Plenty, features powerful black and white images and personal interviews, highlighting the human stories behind the crisis. Proceeds support local agencies aiding those in need.
February 18, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM | Environmental Learning Center
Mark Schuman will be joining us to present his book Homeless in a Land of Plenty.
From 2015 to 2020 Mark traveled from Maine, to Florida, to California, to Washington, documenting homelessness in America. In more than 70 towns and cities across the country, he met with service providers and with hundreds of persons experiencing homelessness. What he saw and learned about America's growing homeless crisis is presented in a book of black and white film images that reveal the human side of a story too often reported only in numbers. Included in the book are a selection of the more than 100 interviews conducted with persons experiencing homelessness and with service providers.
Books will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the book's sale will benefit the Environmental Learning Center and local agencies serving persons currently without stable housing.
