You roll out of Lisbon at 9 a.m., the car carving across the Vasco da Gama bridge while the Tagus pulls the city behind you. The road narrows, cork oaks take over, and the hills of Parque Natural da Arrábida rise—limestone slopes that dare you to look seaward. By midmorning you’re at Palmela Castle: a short climb rewards you with broad views of the Setúbal plain and the Atlantic beyond.
