You step off the transfer into humid air that smells of wet earth and green leaves, the canopy above clattering with unseen movement. Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges opens like a vertical map — ropes and planks crossing gullies, broadleaf trunks rising, and the Arenal cone pushing the horizon into a blunt silhouette.
moderate.
4 hours.
Moderate—comfortable walking on uneven ground for up to two hours and handling stairs and short climbs.
Yes—transport is included as part of the tour (roundtrip transfers from common pickup points are provided).
The tour is suitable for most fitness levels but involves up to two hours of walking on uneven terrain and stairs plus a short volcano hike—prepare for mud and inclines.
Basic restroom facilities are available at the park and snacks and fruit are provided after the volcano hike as part of the itinerary.
Night walks often reveal frogs, owls, nocturnal insects and occasionally kinkajous or sleeping bats; sightings depend on season and chance.
Mistico Park was developed as part of private conservation and ecotourism initiatives to protect primary forest on volcanic soils that had once been cattle pasture.
The park operates under conservation principles—stay on trails, avoid feeding wildlife, and consider supporting local guides to ensure revenue flows to protection and community projects.
