Experience the rich history of Ardgillan Castle, an 18th-century gem, on a captivating 30-minute tour. Explore the lives of the Taylor family from 1738 to 1962, immersing yourself in the unique atmosphere of this historic home. Enjoy free tours for seniors on the first Wednesday of each month.

Ardgillan Castle is open all year round offering visitors the opportunity to visit an 18th century country style house. Our tours provide an amazing opportunity to experience history at first hand. Many periods of social history are brought to life with the focus firmly on the family who once lived in the castle. Visitors will get the chance to explore the castle and enjoy the same atmosphere that the Taylors experienced from 1738, when the castle was built right up to 1962, when it was eventually sold.

Due to the impact of the cost-of-living crisis we are delighted to offer free tours to all those over the age of 65 on the first Wednesday of each month. (ID must be shown at the admissions desk to avail of free entry)

How to get to Ardgillan

The route to Ardgillan Demesne is signposted from the M1. Travelling north from Dublin exit at Junction 5. Travelling south exit at Junction 6 (well signposted).

Important to Know

Visitor parking is located in the upper carpark and is a short 7 minute walk to the entrane to the castle. Visitors with limited mobility can park in our accessible carpark closer to the castle. Please arrive 5 minutes before your tour is scheduled to start and allow time to walk from the upper carpark.
