Tour description

"There is gold in them fells!" was a shout heard all over Finland in the 19th century. Adventurers of all stripes traveled hundreds of kilometers by ski, foot, or boat to the gold prospecting area for a chance to discover riches. Now you can take a trip back in time and visit a recreation of such a site. You’ll explore a gold prospector’s cabin, and our guide will teach you the proper technique of panning for gold. Will you find any? All the gold you discover is yours to keep! Finally, we conclude the experience by enjoying a hot cup of coffee or tea by the cozy campfire. The call of adventure beckons—will you answer it?

How do I get to the activity?

If you stay at Apukka Resort:

  • Arrive at the meeting point 10 min. before the start of the activity.

If you need transportation:

  • The price of the activity includes transfers to and from Apukka Resort with our shuttle bus.
  • The bus stops are located at Rovaniemi city center and Santa Claus Village’s bus stop, situated by the main road (Road E75).
  • Choose the pick-up point during the booking process.
  • You will receive an email with the pick-up details.
  • Please be at the bus stop at least 10 minutes before the given departure time.
  • The transfer won’t wait, so punctuality is essential!
  • If you’re late for the transfer, the tour won’t be refunded.

If you arrive by car:

  • You can park your car in Apukka’s parking lot (Tutkijantie 28, Rovaniemi).
  • Arrive at least 20 min before the activity starts.
  • Pick up your winter gear from the Apukka Adventures dressing room.
  • Wait at the meeting point until the tour begins.
