It was formed by flash floods flowing into the cracks of the Navajo sandstone which was then eroded by wind. About Antelope Canyon Lower

This is the most famous section of Antelope Canyon!

Visitors begin their guided Lower Antelope Canyon tour with a short 10-minute walk from the check-in booth to the entrance of of the canyon. The trail leading to the entrance of Lower Antelope Canyon is composed of Navajo sandstone making the decent to the canyon entrance both rocky and sandy, for our guests’ safety and comfort we advise appropriate shoes be worn.

As you begin your 1 – 1.5-hour adventure (all-walking) with Lower Antelope Canyon Tours, your experience will span roughly 1,800 meters (1.1 miles) round trip. Upon descending down five flights of stairs (35 meters) into the largest cavern of the tour, guests’ will begin their majestic ascent through the kaleidoscope of colors naturally provided by the unique creation of Navajo Sandstone, as a result of rain, wind, and erosion. The numerous echelons throughout the canyon consist of eight uniquely built ladders (with handrails) for safety.

About Antelope Canyon X

Visiting Antelope Canyon X, you’ll witness the same soaring walls and windy labyrinth paths as the popular Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon, but with one key difference – far fewer crowds.

The 1.5 hour Antelope Canyon X hiking tour begins at the Navajo Nation Reservation. After parking and payment, you are transported in a 4×4 transport vehicle 3 miles to the mouth of Antelope Canyon X, where you then hike 100 meters into Antelope Canyon X. At the bottom, Taadidiin Tour guides assist you through a tour of the first slot canyon. After the first slot canyon is complete, guides accompany you on the 200-meter walk to the second slot canyon. Antelope Canyon X is named after the Xs carved into the Navajo Sandstone created by millions of years of rainfall and wind.


Itinerary

  • We'll pick you up in your hotel in Las Vegas Between 5am and 6am. Information about pick up time is sent by email by 6m the day before the tour.
  • Arrive in Page around 11am.
  • Once there, we have a traditional 1 hour and 30 minutes tour through the canyon with a certified Navajo guide to see red sandstone walls with corkscrew formations, illuminated by sunlight coming down into the slots, which are simply breathtaking.
  • We, then, hit Horseshoe Bend, about 10 minutes away. There is a 0.75-mile (1.2-km) hike on a dirt trail, which is both uphill and downhill. Get a chance to look over the edge of the bend — about 1,000 feet (305 meters) down — to a rock formation in the Colorado River. Horseshoe Bend is the top attraction in both the Lake Powell and Page areas.
