It had a capacity for more than 50.000 people and the ability to protect the spectators with a large awning called Velarium. The Palatine Hill, one of the seven hills of Rome, is considered "the first nucleus of the Roman Empire" because has been the location where Romulus and Remus were found by the she-wolf and where Rome has its origins. With the development of Rome, it became the most exclusive neighborhood where emperors and patrician families built opulent palaces and the site is now mainly a large open-air museum.
