12–14 hours
Moderate stamina required: expect several kilometers of walking, some stair climbs in Petra and brief bumpy rides in a jeep.
A single long day that pairs Petra's carved rock city with a Wadi Rum jeep safari. Expect 12–14 hours of driving and walking, sunrise and sunset light, Bedouin culture and historic Nabatean engineering.
You step out of the van into a canyon mouth and the light changes as if someone has turned a filter on the world: sandstone cliffs flush from pink to deep ochre, and a faint dust smell, warmed by midday sun, rises from the flagstones beneath your feet.

Admission to Petra is not included; purchase a Jordan Pass before arrival or bring cash/credit to cover entry fees at the gate.
Arrive at the Siq before mid-morning to avoid crowds and harsh light on the façades; the site is much quieter at first light.
Bottled water is provided, but carry extra—this is a long day with lots of walking and limited food stops en route.
Expect uneven, worn stone and sandy jeep tracks; closed-toe hiking shoes with good grip make both Petra and the Wadi Rum safari easier.
Petra was the Nabatean capital and a crossroads of incense and spice trade; Wadi Rum has been inhabited by Bedouin tribes for centuries and features in Lawrence of Arabia’s accounts.
Respect fragile rock faces and avoid climbing on carved façades; support local Bedouin guides and pack out all trash to help preserve these fragile desert ecosystems.
Provides traction on Petra’s carved stone and stability on sandy jeep tracks in Wadi Rum.
Desert sun is intense—shade and eye protection cut glare and heat exposure.
