2–2.5 hours
Basic fitness; able to pedal and stand for short walks at viewpoints. E-bike assistance reduces exertion.
Coast, caves and classic Algarve beaches—this guided e-bike loop from Alvor to Portimão covers 15–20 km of scenic cycle paths and cliffside viewpoints in about 2½ hours. Small groups, local guides, and Portuguese-made e-bikes make it an easy, high-value way to explore the coast.
The morning starts with a white van parked beneath a low Algarve sun and a row of gleaming black Portuguese-made e-bikes humming quietly like caged energy. Riders clip on helmets, meet a local guide, and push off onto a flat ribbon of cycle path that slides past the glassy Ria de Alvor lagoon. Salt air pushes forward in a steady breath; the river-like lagoon dares you to slow down and look.

Bring at least 1 liter of water—reef-side winds can be drying and stops are brief.
Sunscreen and a brimmed hat under your helmet will keep midday sun from cutting a day short.
Most of the route is paved cycle path but there are short sandy or rocky access points to beaches—closed-toe shoes help.
Operator limits (≈120 kg max, minimum height ~150 cm) are strictly enforced for safety and fit.
Alvor and Portimão developed as fishing and maritime trade centers; Santa Catarina fort guarded the Arade River mouth for centuries.
The Ria de Alvor is a protected lagoon with sensitive bird habitat—stay on marked paths and avoid disturbing nesting areas.
Provided by the operator but bring your own if you prefer a personal fit.
Keeps you hydrated between short stops—there are few refill points on the route.
