You step from an air-conditioned van into humid Belizean air; the jungle seems to lean forward, leaves brushing against the road as if to point the way. Sunlight slices through the canopy and the distant stone profile of Altun Ha rises above palms — a human-made hill that still pushes history into the present.

Altun Ha has uneven limestone steps and uneven ground; visitors with significant mobility limitations or recent spinal/cardiac issues should avoid the more strenuous sections.
The restaurant prepares several protein options and sides; inform the operator of allergies or preferences at booking so they can accommodate when possible.
Altun Ha was an influential Classic Maya trading and ritual center; excavations revealed important jade and ceramic offerings tied to regional exchange.
The site and the farm emphasize minimizing impact — follow posted rules (no climbing ruins), and support the farm’s small-scale aquaculture model that reduces pressure on wild fisheries.
