More ways to explore the area's outdoor wonders

Located just outside the charming village of Alvinston, Ontario, Jireh Hills Family Homestead offers a one-of-a-kind interaction with their gentle herd of alpacas. This hour-long Alpaca Encounter is perfect for adventurers of all ages seeking a low-impact, nature-rooted experience that feels both personal and unique in Southern Ontario's rural landscape.

On arrival at the homestead, visitors receive a warm introduction to the farm and the history behind raising alpacas here. The property features broad, wooded pastures framed by traditional Canadian hardwoods, providing a serene backdrop to meet Bear, Panda, Everest, Teddy, Lou-Lou, and the newest additions Blancha, Boots, and Luna. The herd’s youngest, Niblet and Hershey, often offer moments of delight, especially when Hershey shares a gentle "kiss."

Unlike typical petting zoos, this experience is designed around connection and respect. Guests learn the subtle art of alpaca communication—yes, the caretakers "sing" to them—and discover how to lead the animals along well-maintained woodland trails. Walking side-by-side with these curious, inquisitive creatures provides a peaceful way to engage with the landscape and unwind.

The homestead’s careful setup ensures plenty of space for the alpacas to roam safely while giving visitors multiple photo opportunities with these photogenic animals and the dappled woods beyond. The farm also welcomes all visitors, including those with special needs, making it a standout destination in Ontario for hands-on wildlife interaction that’s accessible and memorable.

Whether you’re planning a family outing, a quiet solo step out of the city, or a group activity, Jireh Hills Family Homestead cultivates a genuine connection with nature’s softer side — the alpaca way.
