Trip Description:

This will be a full day of whale watching on the Monterey Bay departing from Monterey Fishermans Wharf, CA with Discovery Whale Watch This trip is geared towards spending more time with whales during ideal lighting hours, and the calmest sea conditions of the day, for photography and enjoyment.

We will be searching for a wide variety of wildlife including large whales, dolphins, killer whales, seabirds, and more!

During the summer/fall season we are focusing on feeding whales that come to the bay to feast on small fish and krill. We expect to see humpback whales but we can also view blue whales, fin whales, killer whales, and a variety of other dolphin species.

I will be on board to help give you photography advice if needed. I will also be taking photos, videos and flying my drone when regulations and conditions allow.

This trip is longer than most whale watching trips, so I would like to warn you if you think you might get seasick, this trip might not be for you.

If photography isn't your thing, don't worry, I'll be taking photos for you, so you can just enjoy the animals! I will be sending you a photo package of shots I take during the trip.

Look forward to having you on the water!

Adventure Tips

Bring layered clothing

Monterey Bay's coastal weather can be chilly in the morning and late afternoon, so dressing in layers helps keep you comfortable throughout the day.

Charge your camera batteries

You'll have plenty of photo opportunities on this trip, so ensure your camera or phone batteries are fully charged before departure.

Stay hydrated

Although the boat ride is relaxing, the fresh sea air and sun exposure can dehydrate you, so bring a refillable water bottle.

Use sunscreen

The summer sun reflecting off the water can cause sunburn quickly; apply waterproof sunscreen before boarding and reapply as needed.
