COACHES ARE NOT HEATED.
Get to the departure point early to choose the best seats, especially for the open-air gondola experience.
Mountain weather can change quickly, so layering clothes helps you stay comfortable throughout the trip.
Wildlife and landscapes are best captured with a zoom lens, especially from the train’s open-air cars.
Cell signal can be spotty in the mountains; download tickets and maps before departure.
The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad dates back to the early 20th century and played a crucial role in mining and transportation across the Rockies.
Efforts are made to preserve the railroad’s historic infrastructure while protecting the surrounding forest ecosystem through sustainable tourism practices.
Allows you to adjust easily to changing mountain weather during the trip.
Great for spotting wildlife and distant landscape features from the open-air gondola.
