About This Adventure

Embark on a scenic journey from Brighton to Albourne Estate, where you'll savor award-winning wines amidst breathtaking views of the South Downs. Explore the stunning Devils Dyke, enjoy a guided tasting at a family-owned vineyard, and relax on the balcony with local delicacies, all while soaking in the picturesque landscape.

You will be picked up from your hotel or Air B n’ B in Brighton and driven over the picturesque South Downs to Albourne Estate to sample their delicious wines. On the way you will be able to enjoy the stunning views of the South Downs National Park, Brighton and the sea to the south, and to the north over the rolling Sussex countryside. We will stop at Devils Dyke, the longest, deepest and widest dry valley in England, where your Tour Guide will tell you more about this unique landscape feature. Back in 1825, the well-known English landscape artist, John Constable famously declared this spot ‘the grandest view in the world’. We will then carry on to Albourne Estate for a guided wine tasting experience. Albourne Estate is a boutique family-owned vineyard and winery nestled below the South Downs. They produce an exceptional award-winning range of single estate sparkling and still English wines with a core emphasis on sustainable practices. During the tasting your host will share information about the vineyard and insights into their winemaking approach and how the unique Sussex terroir impacts the style of their wines. Afterwards you may purchase further wine or local cheese and charcuterie boards from their Tasting Room to enjoy on their south-facing balcony with stunning views of the vineyard and back towards the South Downs. You also have the option of taking a free self-guided tour around the Albourne Estate Vineyard Trail (maps and comprehensive guide available). The tour can be tailored to your plans and can include a stop either before or after your wine tasting at one of our local traditional country pubs for lunch.
