Aim True on Dorset Chalk — Open Archery at Laserguys in Blandford Forum

On the northern edge of Blandford Forum in Dorset, Open Archery at Laserguys distills the simple pleasure of arrow and target into a lively, sociable hour. At Laserguys Activities, Blandford Forum DT11 9HT, United Kingdomtt, instructors hand you a bow, show safe technique, and set you loose across a grass range backed by the rolling chalk hills that define this part of the county. The format is deliberate and efficient: arrive 10–15 minutes early, collect bows, bracers, and arrows, and spend 60 focused minutes learning to aim, release, and score. Groups include families with children (the minimum age is 8), friends on day outings, and curious first-timers. Equipment and instruction are included, and sessions finish with playful challenges—moving targets, timed rounds, and games that reward steady form as much as raw power. A sheltered picnic area lets you compare scores over tea afterward. What makes this offering stand out is its combination of relaxed accessibility and coached progression. Unlike distant clubs that require memberships, Laserguys opens its range to drop-ins and casual visitors; instructors concentrate on safe fundamentals so you leave with measurable improvement. The setting—framed by Dorset’s grassy downland and punctuated by hedgerows and field-edge oaks—gives each shot a countryside feel rather than a sterile arena. Practical details matter. Prices start from £21 per person including fees; free on-site parking is available, though spaces can be limited. Sessions run year-round in most weather; cancellation occurs only in unsafe conditions such as high winds. For check-in, search “Laserguys Activities” or head to the listed meeting point above. Bring comfortable clothing, sturdy shoes, water, and sun or rain protection. If you enjoy hands-on learning, friendly competition, and an outdoor setting that feels thoroughly Dorset, this is a fine short-form activity to slot into a weekend itinerary. The business’s community-minded approach—family-friendly scheduling, clear safety briefings, and compact lesson plans—makes it a practical, memorable pick for groups and visitors wanting an active hour with immediate payoff.
