About This Adventure

Embark on a unique 3.25-hour cruise through the industrial waterways of Staten Island, guided by experts from Freshkills Park and AIANY. Witness the transformation of Freshkills Park, NYC's largest park, while enjoying elegant seating, a complimentary drink, and stunning views of wildlife and shipping channels on a classic yacht.

Cruise on the vibrant waterways of the Kill Van Kull and the Arthur Kill and into the heart of Freshkills Park in Staten Island on a classically inspired yacht.

The AIANY & Freshkills Park planners host this special Classic Harbor Line tour; the only public water tour into the Fresh Kills waterway.

Officially closed in 2001, Freshkills Park is the largest landfill to park transformation project in the world and when complete will be one of the largest parks in NYC. Its rolling grasslands, wetlands and waterways are already home to an abundance of birds, fish, and wildlife.

  • Experience a major shipping channel and see our industrial waterfront including the active ports of Bayonne & Newark Bay

  • Enjoy many close passes with giant tankers, container ships, dredge barges and tugs.
  • Sweeping views of 4 full capped 'mounds' covered in vegetation and wildlife
  • You'll enjoy unobstructed views from the covered and enclosed solarium or the open decks of one of our yachts. Cushioned seating, heat & AC, a fully stocked bar, and two well-appointed restrooms are available on each yacht.

Refund/Rescheduling Policy

Bookings of 1 to 9 guests, have an option to reschedule or convert to a gift certificate up until 24 hours prior to departure. Bookings of 10 to 16 must notify us 1 week in advance to reschedule or convert to gift certificate credit. Bookings of 17 or more must notify us 2 weeks in advance to reschedule or convert to gift certificate credit. Requests for cancellation, rescheduling or conversion to gift credit must be sent by email to publicsails@sail-nyc.com. *Unique cancelation terms can be offered upon request. Other Policies

Activity takes place rain or shine, but within reason. The activity runs regardless of weather conditions. In the rare situation where the seller is forced to cancel the event, ticket-holders will be allowed to reschedule to another time (subject to availability), receive credit for a future event, or receive a refund.

Quiet Cruising.

  • This cruise is a heavily-narrated tour experience. We recommend it for those seeking an informative, exciting, and content-rich trip. We require guest conversations be kept to a reasonable level so that narration can be heard by all. For guests looking for a more social experience, please consider our sunset cruises, day sails, city lights cruises or one of our other non-narrated events. This is NOT for children under 12. For guests with children under 12 please consider our Statue & Skyline tours, day sails or any other minimally narrated day time event.
