Enjoy a relaxing afternoon tea on board a Victorian carriage hauled by a vintage steam locomotive as it passes through the picturesque Causey valley on the world's oldest railway.

You will be served a selection of sandwiches, scones and home made cakes with plenty of tea or coffee throughout the journey.

If you wish you can use your Afternoon Tea ticket for all day travel but please make sure you are at East Tanfield station for the time booked for your Afternoon Tea.

Due to limited space and safety concerns we are unable to provide additional seating. All passengers including children must be seated. We are unable to accommodate children under the age of 5. Please note that dogs (except assistance dogs) are not allowed in the afternoon tea carriage.

  • This service departs from East Tanfield station. Please ensure you are at the right location prior to departure.
  • We are unable to accommodate for under 5s.
  • Due to the age of the carriage, we are unable to welcome wheelchairs on to our Afternoon Tea carriage. To access the carriage, there's a small step up and a short walk to your seats.
