AFTERNOON HALF-DAY DAINTREE DISCOVERY TOUR

Timeframe: 12:50pm - 5:30pm

This is a great tour for those of you who only want to spend a half day out, are short on time, or want to enjoy a nice sleep-in while on holiday! You visit two areas on this trip, Mossman Gorge and the Daintree River, with your personal tour guide.

  • You will get picked up from your accommodation in Port Douglas by your personal guide for the afternoon. If you are driving up from Cairns we will meet you at the Wildlife Habitat Carpark.
  • We drive north along the Captain Cook Highway, passing cane fields on the way to the Daintree River, and share a little history and many interesting facts along the way.
  • You will board a cruise along the Daintree River, looking out for all manner of creatures, including the estuarine crocodile, snakes, birds, frogs, and more. Enjoy a wine, beer or soft drink while taking in the beautiful views and local wildlife.
  • From here it is back down south heading to the beautiful Mossman Gorge.
  • We arrive at Mossman Gorge, which is the southern part of the Daintree Rainforest. Your guide will take you on a walk and share their knowledge of the local flora and fauna and answer any questions you may have. You will have the opportunity to experience a refreshing swim in the gorge (depending on conditions and safety). This is an easy 500m return walk mostly along boardwalks.
  • You can enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear rainforest stream, which can be quite refreshing, whilst being surrounded by the beautiful and healing Mossman Gorge rainforest. What a memorable way to spend an afternoon!
  • With the afternoon sun lighting up the hills on the way home, creating the most stunning views, this is your last opportunity to ask your guide any burning questions about the Daintree Rainforest and local area.
  • After an afternoon of discovering the Daintree Rainforest we will drop you off at your accommodation or car.

Adventure Tips

Bring Swimwear and Towel

A refreshing swim in Mossman Gorge is part of the adventure—pack swimwear and a towel to fully enjoy it.

Wear Sensible Walking Shoes

Paths at Mossman Gorge are mostly boardwalks but can be wet and slippery; sturdy footwear is recommended.

Use Insect Repellent

The rainforest is home to many insects; insect repellent helps keep bites at bay during hikes and river time.

Bring a Camera with a Zoom

Wildlife can be elusive, so a camera with zoom helps capture animals from a safe distance on the river cruise.
