Our Afternoon Free City Tour starts in Piazza di Spagna by the Spanish Steps and ends at the Colosseum. Along the way, you will see the most beautiful monuments of ancient Rome surrounded by a modern context. Our tour guides will make you discover and follow with your eyes Rome’s transformation over the centuries.
In the Afternoon Free Walking Tour, you can admire first of all the famous and monumental Spanish Steps, one of the most fantastic masterpieces you can see in Rome. In front of the Spanish Steps you can see one of the marvellous fountains of the Eternal City fed by the Virgin Aqueduct. During this Free Tour, you will be walking through the historic city center of Rome and see the Ancient Roman Aqueduct built during the 1st Century BC and still working today, while discovering streets and squares with monuments and palaces built during different ages.
During the walking tour you will also visit the famous and amazing Trevi Fountain, the most monumental and beautiful fountain in Rome. The Trevi Fountain is also the largest Baroque fountain in the city, and definitely the most beautiful in the world. While visiting the fountain, you can also follow the tradition of a famous legend that says that if you throw a coin over your shoulder into the fountain, you will come back to Rome again soon. There, at Fontana di Trevi, you can have free time to take pictures of the fountain or to have a gelato break, tasting one good typical Italian Gelato or an espresso coffee.
Leaving the Trevi Fountain your guide will walk you to Piazza Venezia, where you can admire the famous Altare della Patria, dedicated in the late XIX Century, by the King of Italy Vittorio Emanuele II, to celebrate the reunification of Italy, hence also known as the Vittoriano complex.
The last part of the Free Walking Tour reaches the most ancient part of Rome, where you will discover the majestic victory Column of Trajan, Trajan’s Markets, Temple of Saturn into the Roman Forum, the Imperial Forums, the Forum of Julius Caesar and finally the symbol of the greatness of Roman Empire, the majestic Colosseum.
