Adventure tips

Start at the meeting point earlyArrive 10–15 minutes before departure at the Hyatt Regency sidewalk to simplify boarding and security checks.

Bring layers and a light rain shellNight temperatures near the Tidal Basin can drop and weather can change quickly; a packable jacket keeps you comfortable during outdoor stops.

Carry ID and a charged phoneSome sites near government buildings require ID and phones are handy for mobile tickets, photos, and e-tips for guides.

Comfortable footwear for short walksExpect paved surfaces, steps and curbs at memorials—sturdy shoes make quick disembarks and reboards easier.

Recommended gear

Comfortable walking shoes: Paved surfaces and steps at memorials make supportive shoes a practical must.
Lightpackable jacket: Evening breeze off the Potomac can be chilly; a thin insulating layer keeps you comfortable.
Portable phone charger: Photography and navigation can drain batteries during a three-hour outing.
Small flashlight or headlamp: Helpful for stairs, curbs, and reading maps while moving between low-lit stops.
