Adventure tips

Bring small local currencyCarry Ethiopian birr in small denominations for market bargaining and entrance fees—card use is limited in some stalls.

Dress respectfully for churchesWear modest clothing and be prepared to remove hats; photography rules may apply inside Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Acclimate to altitudeAddis sits around 2,400–3,200 m; walk steadily, hydrate, and avoid heavy exertion if you feel lightheaded.

Plan for trafficAllow extra time between stops—Addis roads can slow schedules, so an early start improves museum and viewpoint conditions.
