At high elevations and in a dry climate, proper hydration and sun protection is a necessity. New Mexico weather can also change without much notice.
We recommend bringing:
-Sunscreen & SPF lip balm -Hat and/or sunglasses -Layered clothing, including a light, long sleeve layer for sun protection and a rain layer -Comfortable and safe closed sole shoes for riding a bike. NO flip flops or rain boots please -Water, water, water
The balloons rise at dawn, so plan to start your tour before sunrise to catch the full spectacle.
Early mornings can be brisk even in fall, so dress in breathable layers to stay comfortable.
Staying hydrated on the ride is important, especially since you’ll be outside for a few hours.
Parts of the bosque have walkers and other cyclists, so keep a safe speed and be courteous.
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta began in 1972 and is the largest gathering of hot air balloons in the world, drawing enthusiasts globally each October.
