At high elevations and in a dry climate, proper hydration and sun protection is a necessity. New Mexico weather can also change without much notice. We recommend bringing:
The tour involves walking on uneven terrain around cliffs and studio grounds, so sturdy shoes with good grip are recommended.
The New Mexico high desert offers strong sunlight; wearing a hat and applying sunscreen will help keep you comfortable.
Carry water with you, as hydration is important when walking in the arid climate of northern New Mexico.
Be ready for an intimate experience in the artists' studios where photography might be limited and respectful engagement is encouraged.
Abiquiú has a rich cultural heritage deeply connected to Hispanic and Native American traditions, which influenced many local artists including Georgia O’Keeffe.
