A cool sea breeze pushes across golden sand as you step off the water taxi at Marahau and strap into a double kayak. The coast here is direct: sunlit granite headlands drop into turquoise coves, and the tide writes the rhythm you follow. For roughly four hours a guide leads the paddle — reading currents, pointing out hidden bays and the pale faces of coastal rocks — before depositing you ashore to complete the walk around Pitt Head on your own.
