Highlights

Melrose Abbey Alleged burial site of King Robert the Bruce’s heart. Near to the abbey are the tranquil Harmony Gardens and Scotland’s only dedicated dried flower garden. Melrose is arguably one of the most picturesque towns with a thriving high street and plenty of mouth-watering places to eat.

Dryburgh Abbey Perhaps the most beautiful of the Border’s abbeys. Nestled in quiet countryside.

Jedburgh Abbey 12th-century Augustinian abbey. Founded by King David I in around 1138. Destroyed by the English no less than seven times. Nonetheless, it’s the best surviving abbey in the Borders. Jedburgh is an architectural gem steeped in history. Its proximity to the border with England means it suffered heavily during the turbulent reviving past.

Kelso Abbey One of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture. The historic market town of Kelso - offering ample shops and places to eat - is a great place to spend an hour or two. The Flemish cobbled square and Georgian architecture give it a stylish European feel.
