Charleston’s most historic Ashley River plantations have created a package that invites groups to tour Drayton Hall and Middleton Place, and enjoy an authentic Lowcountry lunch. The package includes a Signature Tour at Drayton Hall, a guided tour of the Middleton Place House Museum, self-guided tours of America’s oldest landscaped gardens, stable yards, freedmen’s cabin, chapel, and Museum Shop, and a Lowcountry lunch at the Middleton Place restaurant.
Expect some wet conditions along the riverbanks and garden paths, so wear shoes that dry quickly and provide grip.
Mosquitoes and biting insects can be common, especially near water; apply repellent before your tour.
Parts of the tour are exposed to direct sunlight; protect yourself with sunblock and a wide-brimmed hat.
