Dawn in Kathmandu arrives as a cool shadow over carved wooden windows and prayer flags that twitch in the wind. You step out of the hotel's doorway into a city that still smells of incense and fresh chai, then cross the terai plains toward Pokhara where lakes mirror the Annapurna range. By mid-tour the hills around Dhampus open: narrow stone steps, terraced fields, and a steadily rising trail that leads to Australian Camp at about 2,000 meters—an overnight where the mountains push the sky into focus.

The hike is graded easy to moderate: 2 hours to Dhampus and about 1.5–2 hours onward to Australian Camp on well-trodden trails and stone steps; no technical gear required.

No special permits are required for Australian Camp and Dhampus; the tour includes an English-speaking guide for city tours and transfers, and a local guide will accompany the hike as part of the package.
Altitude is relatively low (around 2,000 m) and serious illness is unlikely, but stay hydrated, avoid alcohol before hikes, and descend if you experience persistent dizziness or nausea.
