You step off the winding road in Syabrubesi with river spray still on your cheeks and timbered roofs climbing the valley walls. The trail follows the Langtang Khola, threading through mixed rhododendron and pine forest, crossing wooden suspension bridges and the occasional mani wall. By late afternoons the guesthouses fill with the smell of stewed lentils and yak butter tea.
