The trip begins at Entebbe’s humid airfield and unravels across low hills, open savanna and a river that refuses to be tamed. Early mornings smell of charcoal fires and wet earth as you climb into a 4x4 for the long, scenic drives—the road itself an introduction to Uganda’s rural life: market stalls, tea gardens and children racing bicycles.
