The smell of wet earth and salt hangs heavy as your boat slips out of Sierpe, mangrove roots reaching like fingers along the channel. By midmorning the motor hum fades and the rainforest rises—a wall of green where howler monkeys announce your arrival and rivers dare you to follow them inland.

Good cardiovascular fitness and strong legs for multi-day jungle hikes, canyoning and pack carrying; comfortable swimming ability recommended
This is a challenging multi-day trip with long hikes, canyoning, rappels and river crossings; a moderate-to-high fitness level and comfort with wet, slippery terrain are required.
The tour includes breakfasts (5), lunches (4) and dinners (2); accommodations range from ocean-view cabins in Drake Bay to tent camping inside Corcovado National Park.
Guides provide rubber boots, flashlights and typically the safety gear for canyoning and rappels—confirm at booking if you prefer to use your own helmet/harness.
December–April generally offers drier trails and more predictable weather; marine sightings are common year-round but whale season peaks mid-year to winter depending on species.
The Osa Peninsula has long been sparsely inhabited and protected over recent decades; Corcovado became a national park in 1975 to preserve one of the last extensive tracts of Central American rainforest.
Visitors should stick to established trails, avoid touching coral or feeding wildlife and use reef-safe sunscreen; small-group limits help reduce impact in Corcovado and Sierpe.
