The day begins with salt on your lips and the sound of surf as Kuta’s sun climbs over a horizon of palms. By the second morning you’re steering a raft between jungle walls, the river daring you through grade 2–4 drops, and later, the caldera opens beneath you — Lake Batur’s dark glass rimmed by volcano rock and rice terraces.

Beginners can join; both Ayung (grade 2–3) and Telaga Waja (grade 3–4) are guided with safety briefings — choose the river that matches your comfort level.
Try-scuba options are available for beginners with pool training then a single shallow ocean dive; certified divers can book local two-dive trips separately.
Sunrise starts typically around 2:30–3:30 AM to reach the summit before dawn; later morning hikes around 7:30–8:00 offer quieter trails but miss sunrise light.
