You step off the plane at Queen Alia as the light tilts toward the hills of Amman, then push out across a landscape where limestone cityscapes give way to red dunes and graphite cliffs. Over five days, travelers move from Amman’s Roman theater and Umayyad palace into the narrow Siq of Petra, listen to wind shape the sandstone facades, then let Wadi Rum’s open desert dare them with towering granite and quiet night skies — finishing with the buoyant stillness of the Dead Sea.

Moderate fitness: able to walk several kilometers on uneven ground, handle short desert hikes and hop in/out of a 4x4.
Many nationalities receive a visa on arrival or can secure an e-visa in advance; check Jordanian entry rules for your passport well before travel.
Expect several kilometers across uneven stone and steps—plan for 3–5 hours if covering major highlights like the Siq, Treasury and Royal Tombs.
No technical skills are required; the jeep tour includes short walks and standing for photos, but the terrain is driven for most of the route.
You float rather than swim; do not submerge your head, avoid getting salt in eyes, and rinse off in fresh water after the experience.
Petra was the Nabatean capital (1st century BCE–2nd century CE), an important caravan hub; the Dead Sea has been referenced since antiquity for mineral resources and health rituals.
Water diversion upstream has lowered the Dead Sea level; in deserts, stick to marked tracks, support locally run camps and avoid removing geological or archaeological materials.
