Morning light cuts across the ridgeline as you step away from the last tents and into air that tastes of river and stone. The first climb pushes you to 1,500 m and the trail opens into gulches where the Galvasay River dares you to move faster; later you’ll stand on a western flank of Great Chimgan and watch clouds spill over long slopes toward Tashkent.
