Adventure Tips

Dress in layers with windproof outerwear

Lapland’s winter temperatures plunge well below freezing; layering traps warmth but allows flexibility during active pursuits like snowmobiling or dogsledding.

Prepare for limited daylight

During winter months near Kiruna, daylight can be as short as 3-4 hours, so plan activities accordingly to maximize outdoor time during the light.

Follow safety guidance on ice fishing

Always heed guides’ instructions when venturing onto frozen lakes; ice thickness varies and safety comes first, especially during sudden thaws.

Charge all photography gear daily

Cold drains batteries quickly; keep spare batteries warm and ready to capture the Northern Lights and winter landscapes.
