Moderate fitness: able to handle long vehicle days, short walks in uneven terrain, and early starts
Domestic light-aircraft flights typically take about 45–60 minutes depending on the destination airstrip in the Serengeti.
This itinerary includes guided game drives each full day and transfers to and from the airstrip; optional extras like balloon safaris may be additional.
Children are often welcome but check lodge age policies; some transfers and vehicles are wheelchair-friendly but short walks and uneven surfaces are common—confirm accessibility before booking.
Consult your travel clinic for malaria prophylaxis and routine vaccinations; carry a basic first-aid kit and follow your guide’s health safety recommendations.
The Serengeti’s name comes from the Maasai word for “endless plains”; the park’s management and tourism developed during the colonial and post-colonial periods to protect migration corridors.
Conservation focuses on maintaining migration routes and reducing human-wildlife conflict; choose lodges that support community projects and minimize waste to lower your impact.
