You leave Marrakech before dawn, the city’s ochre rooftops shrinking as the road climbs the Tizi n’Tichka pass. The air thins and the High Atlas folds into ochre slopes and scattered Berber villages; by late afternoon you stand on the lip of the Erg Chebbi dunes, wind shaping ridges that dare you to climb.
