You step out of a shaded riad at dawn and the city’s heat folds behind you as the road climbs into the High Atlas. By noon the world has changed: red ochre towns, fortified kasbahs perched like timekeepers, and a pass that opens onto long, empty plains. On this four-day shared tour you move from Marrakech’s mosaic of alleys into the wide, wind-shaped dunes of Erg Chebbi, sleeping under canvas where constellations feel close enough to touch.
moderate.
4 days (3 nights).
Participants should be in regular, moderate fitness—able to manage short dune hikes, climb in/out of camels, and tolerate several hours in a vehicle.
Camel treks are generally mild—sitting on a camel is stable but getting on/off can be awkward; short dune walks are optional and low-impact.
Nights include stays in simple desert bivouacs (shared tents) with dinner and breakfast; other nights are in local hotels in Dades Valley or Zagora with standard amenities.
Infants can join but must sit on an adult’s lap for transport; consider comfort for young children given long drives and overnight camp conditions.
Yes—there’s usually an option to upgrade to a private vehicle or medium-level package for more comfort, subject to availability and supplement fees.
The route follows trans-Saharan trade paths and features Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified ksar that guarded caravan routes and later became a film location for international productions.
Desert camps work to limit footprint by using local guides and low-impact camping practices; carry out trash, avoid off-route driving on dunes, and respect water scarcity.
