A low, hot sun lifts over the Mara’s grasslands as your guide eases the 4x4 along a dusty track. Acacia shadows cut across the plain and a distant black dot resolves into a tower of giraffes moving deliberately toward a river bend; hippos are already submerged and croaking in the cool current. Over four days you move from the Mara’s wide-open savanna to the bright rim of Lake Nakuru, trading predator-focused stakeouts for bird-rich shoreline.
