You step out into thin, high air as the city of Cusco hums below — adobe alleys, church bells and the distant sprawl of terraced hills. On day one a coca tea eases your breathing while the afternoon City Tour walks you through Qoricancha’s stonework and the massive, folded walls of Sacsayhuamán.

Acclimatize in Cusco for 24–48 hours, stay hydrated, avoid alcohol, rest if symptoms appear, and use coca tea or consult the included oxygen availability if needed.
Expect short to moderate hikes: Rainbow Mountain is about 1–2 hours up on uneven ground; Machu Picchu involves stairs and 1–3 hours exploring ruins on foot.
Waterproof hiking boots with ankle support are recommended for muddy approaches and uneven Inca stonework.
