Adventure Tips

Book permits early

Algonquin Park requires permits for backcountry camping; secure these before your trip to avoid last-minute restrictions.

Bring your own PFD

Personal flotation devices are required by law but not included in rentals, so plan to bring or rent them separately.

Pack light and efficiently

Space in canoes is limited; organize gear to keep weight balanced and paddling efficient over multiple days.

Prepare for insect season

Mosquitoes and black flies can be intense in early summer and fall—carry effective insect repellent and head netting.
